COVID-19: Governor Hogan Authorizes Alternate Care Sites for COVID-19 Patients and Long-Term Care Residents

To protect public health, Governor Hogan has authorized the use of alternate care sites for the isolation, quarantine, and treatment of persons with COVID-19, including health related services such as hospital inpatient care.

The Secretary of Health shall establish, supply, operate, and manage alternate care sites and may request that the Health Services Cost Review Commission establish rates and charges for services provided at alternate care sites.  The rates and charges will take into account relevant circumstances and factors, such as the rates and charges set for nearby or similar facilities and services.

The order grants immunity protection to health care providers and Maryland Responds Medical Reserve Corps volunteers who, acting in good faith, provide services at alternate care sites.

For more information about this order, please contact Ferrier Stillman, Gregory Garrett, or any member of Tydings’ health care practice group.
